Lead Nurse for Long Term Ventilation Operational Delivery Network

I studied Paediatric Nursing in Liverpool in 1999. I started my nursing carer in a district general hospital where I gained experience in neonates, surgery, medicine and community. I moved to Alder Hey in 2004 to HDU where I found my vocation within the LTV speciality. I then took a role in the community where I managed and provided training for care packages for children on invasive home ventilation and from there was lucky enough to get the opportunity to become a WellChild Nurse.

I remained as a WellChild Nurse in LTV for 14 years. During this time I qualified APNP and Nurse Prescriber. I also took a secondment to work with the director of programmes to provide a leadership role within the national WellChild nurse network.

In 2021 I spent a year as a community matron and also was successful in getting the lead nurse role for the ODN.

I am committed to the care and support of children on LTV and hope that by working together with the children, families and professionals across the region that we strive to provide the best and safest care possible.
