Information for parents & families

Your local hospital, doctors and nurses do their best to provide care close to home, but sometimes, your child may need more specialised treatment. Not all hospitals have the expert care required for certain conditions, so a transfer might be needed to ensure they get the best support. In the North West, Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and Alder Hey Children’s Hospital have dedicated intensive care units just for children, where specialist doctors and nurses are ready to help.

Below is a selection of helpful resources, including links to information leaflets to support you if your child requires critical care, whether at a specialist children’s hospital or your local hospital.
